Design for Value Workshop

Value Engineering is commonly defined as the application of value techniques during the development stages of a new product or service.

The process known as a VE Job Plan consists of six phases:

  • Information Phase
  • Function Phase
  • Innovation Phase
  • Evaluation Phase
  • Development Phase
  • Presentation Phase

Each phase has a set of objectives as well as tools or practices to achieve those objectives.  The key attribute that sets Value Engineering apart is its functional orientation which provides an often unique perspective of the product development challenge.

DFMA® has often been considered a Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) tool typically used during the Innovation and Evaluation phases. The Design for Value workshop utilizes the VE Job Plan approach to teach critical product development techniques and to apply them in an integrated way to client projects.

The duration and agenda for the workshop(s) is developed based on the overall project objectives and capabilities of the participants.
